Cockle harvested from the Yeoja Bay tidal flats in Yeosu was registered as Geographical Indication seafood No. 20. With 235 local fishery households producing about 22,000 tons a year (roughly 73% of national output), the registration officially recognizes the safety and quality of Yeoja Bay cockle and is expected to strengthen the region's seafood brand competitiveness.
